Top Creator Visit: Kickstarting Your YouTube Channel

 

Join us for a day of interactive workshops focusing on the development of your channel!

 

Top Creator Visit is an initiative led by YouTube and the Queensland Government that aims to support creators in developing quality content that expands their target market reach.

 

This Top Creator Visit has been specifically designed for YouTube creators with a following of 0-5k subscribers (established creators are welcome to participate but please note this workshop targets early stage creators). The event will bring together industry experts to collaborate through an interactive workshop, panel discussion, and networking session. The Launching & Building Your Channel workshop will be delivered by social video experts, Totem.

 

About Totem

Totem is a global leader in social media advisory, with a strong focus in Asia Pacific. Totem has worked with top YouTubers from around the world including Bethany Mota, Racka Racka, Sony Music artists, National Geographic, and Australia’s number one gaming YouTuber – Muselk.

Session 1: Laying the Groundwork 

• Setting a strategy - Using your passion and finding your niche
• Channel Design & UX - How to design assets and think about branding
• Playlists & Curation - How to set up your content on your channel
• Pre-production - Ideating, planning, scripting


Session 2: Lights, Camera, Action!

• Production Tips - Cameras, editing, helpful tips
• Video Optimisation - How to optimise your content for search and discovery
• Programming - How to set a schedule, when to upload etc
• Community Management - Learn how to speak to your audience and the wider YouTube community

Steve Crombie | CEO, Totem

Amelia Darmawan | Senior Strategist, Totem

Amelia specialises in establishing cohesive and meaningful messaging for brands across digital media platforms through video. Amelia has lead social video strategies for clients such as BBCW, Telstra and Village Roadshow to name a few. Additionally, Amelia has co-facilitated the design of the Totem audit product, a comprehensive deep dive into a brand’s existing social video presence, to uncover future opportunities for brands throughout APAC. This spans a broad range of sectors giving her and Totem unparalleled insight into the level of disruption social platforms are presenting to traditional marketing and storytelling across industries.

 

Elise Strachan | Creator & Panellist 

Elise Strachan created the wildly successful My Cupcake Addiction brand as a way to bring her over the top ideas and accessible approach to all things sweet. With over 10 Million followers around the world, Elise aims to make life just a little bit sweeter through food, fun and fabulous at-home entertaining. Elise now divides her time between Australia and the USA, where she's successfully launched a cookbook, a Food Network TV Show and is living proof a Gold Coast Mum can go from passionate baker to international media mogul in just a few short years. As a Top Creator on YouTube, Facebook and Instagram, Elise is excited to share her knowledge, best practices and learnings from over 7 years of digital content creation, so bring your questions!

YouTube/Create QLD Partnership

This event is a partnership between Advance Queensland and YouTube that aims to stimulate the current and next generation of Queensland’s creative entrepreneurs. Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology, QUT Creative Enterprise Australia, and Screen Queensland are key partners in the delivery of the program.

The program will provide creative entrepreneurs and digital creators with funding, production resources and equipment, and expert support to enhance their ability to develop high-quality digital content and reach new global audiences via YouTube.

The program aims to serve as a collaborative platform where YouTubers, digital producers, content creators, and industry experts in Queensland can connect, learn from and inspire each other, and have the opportunity to become better connected with a community of top creators from around the world.
