Event description

Description

The Committee of the Toowoomba Branch of the National Trust Australia invites you to join us on Saturday, November 9th at our next Branch Gathering which has an Indigenous heritage focus and also reflects the National Trust’s current and inclusive interest in Indigenous heritage.

Gummingurru is a special place to traditional custodians of this land. Jarowair people visited this site to feel a sense of being-in-place and to perform sacred ceremonies. It is believed to have been an important networking and resting place for indigenous travellers to the Bunya Mountains.

After meeting at 10 am at Gummingurru at 148 Old Homebush Road, Gowrie Junction (about a 20 minute drive from Toowoomba), we will learn about the site and bora, bora rings and Aboriginal stone arrangements. The stone arrangements are not static designs but moving images that include over a dozen unique stone arrangements. Can you identify the reptile depicted in the arrangement above?

The entry fee, tour and morning tea cost is $15.00 per person and will be paid on site. As we need to advise numbers for the activity and catering, all participants must register by November 5 on this site or by email to toowoomba@nationaltrustqld.org or phone 0490363719.

Up to 40 places are available.
