Event description

Description

Australia Chinese New Arts Society in association with Georges River Council presents.....

The opening event of the 2019 Georges River Discovery Festival of Community Arts.

TOO BLUE TO BE TRUE refers to both the delighted reaction of many Chinese who first visit Australia and enjoy the fresh air and strong blue colour of the Australian skies, but also to the realities of the migration experience that although full of hopes and dreams and a new sense of freedom, are often fraught with difficulties, disappointments and heartache. This event will include the launch of a bi-lingual Chinese-Australian book of personal stories of migration, together with the Too Blue to be True video and the opening of a related art exhibition, TRACELESS YEARS.

Authors and artists from the Australia Chinese New Art Society will share some stories, followed by English translations presented by younger members of their families.

FREE ENTRY but bookings are essential. Includes light refreshments and special guest performers, the Happy Singing Tribe.
