Together for Change community workshop
Overview
This event will get Moonee Valley locals thinking creatively and practically about how we can contribute to violence prevention where we all live, work and play. We will hear from inspiring panellists who have done just that and learn more about the strong connection between fostering gender equality and family violence prevention.
We all deserve to live in homes, neighbourhoods and cities where we are safe, respected and free. Unfortunately, some people continue to use violence in their relationships, impacting the wellbeing, safety and freedom of not just the people targeted, but the whole community around them.
The good news is that if we come together, this violence can be prevented. Across settings - whether at home, school, work, businesses, sporting fields, places of worship, community groups – we can all act on the drivers of this violence and put measures in place to support people at risk of – or already experiencing – this violence.
When whole communities and governments take a collective stand, it sends powerful messages: that we care for those impacted by gender-based violence; that there must be accountability for those who use violence; and that everyone can and should play a role in eliminating family and all forms of gender-based violence.
This event is a collaboration between Moonee Valley City Council and cohealth. Register now to secure your spot and please get in touch with Council’s Community Safety Officer for questions and suggestions: CommunitySafety@mvcc.vic.gov.au
