Description

TASMANIAN LAND CONSERVANCY ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING & VALE OF BELVOIR RESERVE 10TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

As a valued supporter of the Tasmanian Land Conservancy (TLC), we warmly invite you to attend the TLC's Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Sunday 18 November 2018 at 2.00pm at the IMAS Aurora Lecture Theatre, 20 Castray Esplanade, Salamanca.

The general business of the AGM will be conducted.

CELEBRATING THE VALE OF BELVOIR RESERVE

Following the AGM please join us to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the creation of TLC’s Vale of Belvoir Reserve.

The Vale of Belvoir is widely recognised as one of the most important places for nature conservation in Australia.

The tussock grasslands of the Vale of Belvoir are home to shy ground parrots, endangered ptunarra brown butterflies and numerous wildflowers. It is also home to one of the densest populations of marsupial carnivores in the world. Habitats include native grasslands rich in threatened plant species, wetlands and old growth rainforests. Under the surface lies one of Tasmania’s only subalpine karst, or limestone cave, systems.

Ten years on, the TLC's 476 hectare Vale of Belvoir Reserve is now recognised as a Tasmanian conservation icon. In celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Reserve, the TLC wishes to honour the cultural and natural heritage of the Reserve and the nation-wide community of supporters whose support ensured its protection.

We will also explore the challenges and opportunities of the future along the way to realising the Tasmanian Land Conservancy's vision for Tasmania to be a global leader in conservation by examining 'What is a Word-class Reserve System and how can we achieve it?', and by introducing the emerging innovative ways that the TLC is working with private landholders to identify and protect critical conservation values on their properties.

Complimentary celebratory cake and Devils Corner wines will be served at the event.

TLC members and supporters are welcome.

Please register by COB Monday 12 November. We will send you the agenda and papers for the AGM once we have received your registration. To record your apology please email events@tasland.org.au. You can download an electronic copy of the TLC’s 17/18 Annual Report here. To request a hard copy of the Annual Report, please email Emma at emcphee@tasland.org.au.

We look forward to seeing you there!
