Tilt 2025 | Dwelling by Jessee Lee Johns
Jessee Lee Johns Creates a House Inside a Gallery for TILT 2025
The City of Melville’s annual TILT commission at Goolugatup Heathcote returns for 2025 with Jessee Lee Johns thought-provoking exhibition Dwelling.
For this year’s commission, Johns brings the everyday into the gallery itself – from a letterbox, a bed, a shower cubicle and other fragments of suburbia, all staged as sculpture. The site-specific installation reimagines the gallery as a home, inviting visitors to explore the boundaries between art, architecture and everyday life.
Created from found materials, including timber and fencing retrieved from the grounds of Goolugatup, these handmade forms reflect the functions of home and invite reflection on what we truly need to feel sheltered, comfortable and at ease.
The exhibition is free to attend.
