Description

We’re delighted to introduce our Thought Leadership Series – a program of presentations from some of the most important researchers and thinkers in the sector. They’re stepping up to share their knowledge and expertise with us, and we think you might want to hear what they have to say. Stay tuned for more event announcements soon, too.

Child protection after the Royal Commission

A landmark investigation, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse conducted 57 public hearings into institutions and held more than 8,000 private sessions with individuals who had experienced sexual abuse in an Australian institution. The 409 recommendations of the Commission were released in late 2017.

But what do the recommendations mean for the aid and development sector? How do we apply the new child safety standards to our work? And how can we make sure we are taking steps to keep children in institutions truly safe?

Join us for the first event in our new exciting Thought Leadership Series. We’ll hear from Robert Fitzgerald AM, an expert on this topic, and open a discussion lead by Jane French from Child Wise and Save the Children.

Our guest speakers

Throughout his career, he has conducted 17 national inquiries into economic and social policy issues. Robert has held positions as the NSW Community and Disability Services Commissioner, Deputy Ombudsman, President of the Australian Council of Social Service, and Chair of the Advisory Board for the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission. More on the Thought Leadership Series

At Save the Children, we’re all about finding better ways to do our job. We listen and collaborate with experts. We apply innovative approaches to our programs and we ultimately always seek the most effective way we can help more children learn, survive and be protected every single day.

As leaders in our sector, we’re also always thinking about how we can achieve this and how we can open up this dialogue with our supporters.

That’s why we’re launching a new Thought Leadership Series – a program of presentations from some of the most important researchers and thinkers in the sector. They’re stepping up to share their knowledge and expertise with us, and we think you might want to hear what they have to say.

This Thought Leadership Series promises to open up much-needed discussions in the sector on issues that impact our work. We value your participation and we hope you can join us.
