Description

The York Festival (previously The York Bzzaar) is back and packed with great arts, crafts and family entertainment! Over two days in September you and the family can enjoy exhibitions, workshops, live music and a whole heap more!

The weekend kicks off with the the York program of the Avon Valley Readers & Writer's Festival which will be held in York for the first time on Friday 9th September. The inaugural Mt Brown Run is off and running at 7am Saturday. Then you can wander down and view the entries in a new art award, the Hay Bale Challenge sculpture competition and the exhibition of some extraordinary Australian artists working with paper, Tasmanian Leonie Oakes, the Papercutter - Jacky Cheng from Broome, and Albany artist, Sue Codee. Hangout with the youngies at Joe Bolton's Suitcase Circus, browse the beautiful handmade art & craft stalls, upskill at workshops with Nalda Searles, Sharyn Egan, Kate Weedon-Jones, Jill Parnell and Julie-Anne Tylor as well those by finalists in the 2016 Common Threads Wearable Art show, Jo Ireland and Julie Smith. Sand sculptor Tim Darby will be busy creating something wonderful out of a huge pile of sand and don't forget the children's archaeological digs, Bush Poets Breakfast and much else, all in the historic town of York in the heart of the Avon Valley.
