Description

Women's health in middle to later years: putting women at the centre of healthcare.

You're invited to the Women's Community Board Meeting!

Join the conversation and share your thoughts on the needs, challenges and opportunities for women's healthcare, now and in the future. This event will be an interactive, dynamic discussion featuring prominent panellists Elaine Canty AM, Angela Savage and Lorraine Parsons, and facilitated by Jane Fenton AM.

Elaine Canty AM has had a varied and distinguished career in law, as an ABC broadcaster and in the corporate sector. She has been a Board Chair and Board Member of numerous not for profit organisations relating to sport and health. Elaine is a current Director of the Royal Women's Hospital Foundation Board.

Lorraine Parsons is a member of the Women’s Board Community Advisory Committee. She has had an extensive and distinguished career in health services as a social worker and in Aboriginal advocacy and liaison for more than 25 years. Lorraine is a breast cancer survivor and is very aware of the challenges for women who are on a journey navigating the health system when faced with a serious illness.

Angela Savage is the Director of Writers Victoria. She spent the 1990s living and working on HIV projects in Southeast Asia, and in Australia has alternated between writing fiction and working in the community sector. She has published three crime novels, and completed her PhD in 2017. Angela is part of the Women’s family, having given birth to her daughter at the hospital, as well as recent care.

Jane Fenton AM is the founder of award winning public relations and marketing communications consultancy Fenton Communications. She is the Deputy Chair of the Queen Victoria Market Pty Ltd, Deputy Chair of Cancer Council Australia, Chair of Gather My Crew and a member of the UniMutual Board. Jane has previously served as an MCG Trustee, Chair of the VicHealth Board and a member of the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. She is also a Life Governor of Very Special Kids. Jane is a Telstra Business Women's Award winner and received an Order of Australia Medal (AM) for service to the community, particularly through support of a range of health, medical research, youth and women’s groups.
