Professor John Newnham AM, Chair of the Australian Preterm Birth Prevention Alliance and the 2020 WA Senior Australian of the Year, will join us as a special guest speaker. Prof Newnham will revisit the success of the WA Initiative and its role in shaping the national approach to preterm birth prevention.
The evening will also feature a presentation from Theme Leader of the Women’s and Kid’s research theme and Deputy Director of SAHMRI, Professor Maria Makrides. Professor Makrides will present on Omega-3 for preterm birth prevention as well as provide proposed updates on the South Australian Perinatal Practice Guidelines relating to preterm labour and birth, induction of labour, and new initiatives to reduce smoking in pregnancy in South Australia.
This will be an educational evening for health care professionals including obstetricians, midwives and GP obstetricians.
