Event description

Description

Fungi are of vital importance to our ecosystems!

Fungi are important to our ecosystems, including the bush, revegetation sites, farms and gardens. They largely determine soil structure and are major recyclers of nutrients. Over 90% of Australian plants have symbiotic partnerships with soil fungi.

Learn more about the vital importance of fungi from acclaimed fungi expert Dr Sapphire McMullan-Fisher from Fungimap. She will explain how fungi help to restore habitat (including enabling native orchids to grow) and how to ID & report fungi with Fungimap.

This event is being organised by Vale Park Our Patch (VPOP), a community environmental group well known for growing fungus-dependent native orchids on their revegetation sites along the River Torrens Linear Park. For further information see (VPOP) website http://www.valeparkourpatch.com/

Dr McMullan-Fisher’s visit and associated events are funded through a grant from the State Government’s Natural Resources: Adelaide & Mount Lofty Ranges
