Event description

Description

As part of a new study program, Mackay Christian College's Year 11 students are researching the biomass and carbon storage potential of mangroves in the Pioneer Valley. The data will be sent to renowned mangrove ecologist, Dr Norman Duke of James Coook University, who is also the scientific advisor for the project.

Pierre Craven, Head of Science at Mackay Christian College, will give a presentation on this research including what they have discovered so far and why mangroves are important.

We will also be giving updates on Mackay Conservation Group's activities and events and there will be opportunities for you to give us suggestions on our work. Our meetings are also a great way to meet like-minded people.

Come along and bring a friend!
