The value of human centred design - IxDA Sydney Oct 2016
This month IxDA Sydney will bring you back to first principles, understanding the value and application of good design. We will be approaching it from two directions this session, both dealing with the practicalities and strategies to hold value in the design process. Firstly, from a user-facing form upwards, in the case of how the CBA worked to improve the arduous experience of filling in forms, and then from the the top down, with an impassioned discourse about how to consider our value to society as designers.
The Value of Design in a complex, dynamic world
The value of design, and designers, is being questioned - by the design community - in a global case of existential angst. Architects, industrial designers, graphic designers, interaction designers, and service designers are all asking the same questions: what is our role? How can we contribute in a meaningful way? How can we be taken seriously? This presentation will briefly explore the challenges facing designers of all shapes and sizes, and propose a way to think about our role, value, and contributions to society...
Designing friendly applications forms
Financial services application forms can be hard work for customers. In this session, Larissa will share the story on how CBA turned that concept around by making financial forms fun, accurate and effortless. The presentation will cover Design Principles, Core Patterns and Moments of Truth.
