Event description

Description

As part of the 16 Days of Activism at UNSW, the Globalisation & Governance Research Network, the Gendered Violence Research Network and the School of Social Sciences invite you to the screening of The Uncondemned.

The screening will be followed by a short expert panel discussion. Further details to follow.

The Uncondemned tells the story of the group of lawyers and activists, and the Rwandan women who came forward, to defy the odds and do what had never been done before – to prosecute rape as a crime against humanity. A courtroom thriller and personal human drama, The Uncondemned interweaves the stories of the relatively inexperienced team of young lawyers with those of the women who braved witness assassinations to testify at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda – with results that changed the world of criminal justice forever.

The content of this film is powerful and could cause distress for some viewers. The issues raised in the film will be further addressed in the panel discussion, and audience questions and/or comments are encouraged here.

After the panel discussion, please join Professor Ian Jacobs, President and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Eileen Baldry, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Inclusion and Diversity and Edward Bartolo, Chair of the Board, Arc to launch the UNSW Equity, Diversity and Inclusion policy https://edipolicylaunch.eventbrite.com.au
