THE THERAPEUTIC ROLE MUSIC PLAYS IN THE LIVES OF THERAPIST AND CLIENT

In this workshop attendees will be introduced to music’s therapeutic benefits and how music can be used to reduce stress and anxiety in a range of client groups. An overview of music therapy methods will be provided along with adaptations for professionals. Attendees will participate in experiential activities and explore safe application methods to use with clients.


Bridie Fitzgerald is a registered music therapist and counsellor with a decade of experience working with individuals with a range of issues including trauma, mental illness, disability and those in aged care. Bridie has worked in a range of community settings. At present Bridie runs a busy private practice where she uses her expressive therapy skills to counsel children and adults with a range of issues. Bridie established the music therapy program at the Ability Centre where she provides group music therapy for individuals with Cerebral Palsy. Furthermore, Bridie provides music therapy for children living with disability, in particular Autism at her private practice. Bridie has provided professional development for counselling staff at Cyrenian House, Palmerston Therapeutic Community and AAFT.



Please note that to attend this workshop you must have have completed a degree or Masters in Arts Therapies, Social Work, Counselling, Psychology. Non - registered Arts Theraipsts may be asked to provide details of qualification upon booking.

Attendance certificates will be emailed after the event.

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

  • There is some free street parking available in the area, but it may be difficult to find.
  • The Cultural Centre and State Library charges $3.60 per hour, or there is 2 hour street parking at $4.10 per hour.
  • Or Perth train station is less than 10 minutes walk away.

What's the refund policy?
