Event Information
Description
Are you 16+ years old and have a passion for storytelling, (short stories, poetry, scripts, photography, illustration, collage, zine making…)? Do you want to get published and create an interactive community dialogue while you’re at it?
Then come join The Telling Tree – Yarra Libraries’ interactive, installation-based, community storytelling project.
Sessions will run every Wednesday evening and alternate between:
1) ‘Young Creative Writers Group Workshops’ (16-25 year olds)
Join a group of emerging writers as we explore and work with ‘fruit’ from The Telling Tree. There will be time for writing, drawing, collage-making, chatting and sharing. We will also set a new prompt for the tree each fortnight.
(dates – 2/5, 16/5, 30/5, 13/6 & 27/6)
&
2) ‘Open writing sessions’ (Open to all ages.)
The group will write quietly for 90 minutes, followed by 30 minutes to share and chat. You can respond to ‘fruit’ from The Telling Tree or work independently on your own project. There is no workshopping, so it doesn’t matter what you are writing or which language you are writing in!
