A public lecture presented by widely respected Biblical Scholar, Dr Stephen Barton

Dr Barton, originally from Australia, is an Honorary Fellow, and formerly a Reader in New Testament, in the Department of Theology and Religion, University of Durham. He is also an ordained priest in the Church of England. His Speciality is in New Testament Studies, having a broad range of interest in areas such as:

  • Christian Origins

  • New Testament Interpretation

  • Resurrection Theology

  • Theology of the Family

  • The Bible and Ethics

In the faith of Christians, the death and resurrection of Jesus is the defining revelation of the power of God bringing a new world into being Reality is transformed. Its shape is love. The lecture explores the meaning of the resurrection and its significance for the moral life. In particular, it gives attention to the impact of resurrection faith on the Christian practice of death and dying. In the process, it takes us to the heart of Christian living.’
