Event description

Description

In this CSI Swinburne Seminar, Professor Angie Hart (Brighton) will outline the core components of the ‘Resilience Revolution’ which seek to provide purposeful opportunities for any member of the community with a particular emphasis on those affected by disadvantage. Professor Hart will present the ‘Resilience Revolution’s’ theory of change, co-produced with young people and practitioners that aims to develop a culture of supported activism and purpose in relation to the mental health of 10-16 year olds in Blackpool in the UK. Professor Hart will present an overview of the research data, in particular she will demonstrate how the 'Resilience Revolution' has relevance to anyone who wants to develop social justice-oriented resilience approaches in communities more broadly. She will demonstrate how the 'Resilience Revolution' draws attention to social movements, social justice and co-production as an alternative approach to mental health support.

Professor Angie Hart (University of Brighton) undertakes participatory research with children and families, especially in relation to resilience and is Director of the University’s Centre of Resilience for Social Justice. She is also a mental health practitioner and founded Boingboing, a social enterprise specialising in resilience research and practice based in Brighton and Blackpool, UK. She has developed many resilience practice resources, which are used in the UK and beyond. For more details of her work see www.boingboing.org.uk and www.brighton.ac.uk/crsj.
