Event description

Description

The second in our Parks Boost workshop series will focus on how we tell the stories of Tasmania’s people, place and culture. We all have the opportunity to share this narrative, and storytelling is one of the most powerful tools we have to connect with our visitors.

This three hour workshop will inspire participants to:

· Recognise the central importance and value of storytelling

· Discover, develop and deliver their key stories

· Organise a suite of supporting stories for different applications

· Deepen guests’ emotional connection with their experience

The workshop will include:

· Interactive exercises and ideas sharing

· Methods to clarify and organise stories

· Relationships between stories, themes and brands

· Examples of best practice storytelling on different platforms

· The benefits of linking to broader destination stories

· Tools to use for ongoing story development

This workshop is delivered by regional tourism development and marketing professional, Russell Boswell. Russell is manager of Savannah Way Ltd and Savannah Guides. Savannah Guides is a not-for-profit organisation delivering professional development for Tour Guides across northern Australia, including training, field schools and accreditation.

In partnership with the Wet Tropics Management Authority it delivers the Wet Tropics Tour Guide Program specifically for the World Heritage Area guides and Visitor Information Centre staff. He has delivered various regional ecotourism initiatives in Australia, The Pacific and China, created and delivered varied soft adventure and interpretive products, and run the Ecotourism Program at TNQ TAFE College.
