About this Event

We all have stories, they are all unique, and all are important. They deserve to be heard.

Join Andrew Cox for this online workshop where participants will dig deeper into the ideas of identity and personal truth.

The best poetry is where artists have room to be honest, vulnerable and tell stories. Rather than getting caught up by what a poem consists of and requires, the focus of this unique workshop is shifted to see poetry as a format and a framework - a platform for your voice, to be empowered and in turn empower others.

This workshop is part of Stand Up for Poetry, a Hunter regional poetry program presented by Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Maitland, and Port Stephens Libraries. It is an exciting series of poetry workshops, panels, spoken word showcases and slam heats across the Hunter region in 2020.

For beginners and the more experienced poets to learn, write, perform, listen, enjoy and prepare for the Australian Poetry Slam 2020.

Ages: All ages

Cost: Free

Bookings essential.

Registered participants will be emailed a link to register for the workshop on Zoom.
