The Power of Many Colours – Cultural New Year
We extend a heartfelt invitation to join with us to celebrate The Power of Many Colours – Cultural New Year.
The Christmas and New Year period across Australia is a joyous occasion to meet family and friends, but for many, in particular international students and those on temporary visas, the festive season can intensify their existing feelings of loneliness and isolation.
Due to the current travel restrictions & financial constraints, international students and temporary visa holders are unable to go home and visit family, which means they feel alone, isolated and can also suffer from mental health issues at this time of the year.
Red Cross with Kindness Shake is organising a full-day activity-filled event for international students, temporary visa holders and other vulnerable Territorians, including refugees and asylum seekers.
The idea is to present cultural food, performances and traditional dress to the multicultural community in the NT while supporting 400 international students and visa holders who are in financial difficulties with grocery packs, vouchers for hygiene products and pre-cooked takeaway meals.
Activities include:
- Cultural performances including dancing, acting & singing
- Cultural food from around the world including Africa, Asia
- Middle East, Americas, Europe & Australia
- Traditional dress displays
- Games/activities for kids
Will we see you there?
