Event description

Description

The Peripheral City is a temporary rooftop exhibition that offers a glimpse into the future of the built environment of Sydney CBD. Through the lens of early career independent designers, the curated projects aim to showcase speculative contemporary visions that re-define the boundaries of our city. Each designer will be given the opportunity to present the key values and focus of their practice using the site of the rooftop as the catalyst.

Join us as we explore the Sydney Design Festival 2019 theme of 'accessibility' within our city. We are approaching the definition of accessibility, as access to underutilised spaces within our city and access to opportunities for emerging designers to create real change within our built environment. A temporary pop-up showcase set up by our designers will also be on view on our roof-top during the event.

This special event is part of an initiative to activate an otherwise underutilised rooftop space in Surry Hills featuring an open rooftop, informal indoor gallery space and pop-up bar set up exclusively for the Sydney Design Festival.
