Paul Millard - Saxes/Woodwinds
Paul was born in Perth, Western Australia and has been playing saxophone, clarinet and flute since his early teens. He began performing regularly in blues, jazz and pop groups then into big bands and orchestras playing live concerts and studio sessions.
In the early 80’s he moved to Sydney and attended the NSW Conservatorium of Music completing the Diploma in Jazz Studies under Don Burrows and continued working on the east coast playing club, theatre and jazz gigs and arranging music for various artists. He returned to Perth in the 90’s where he has since been based as a musician, arranger and educator.
During his career Paul has been fortunate to have performed with a variety of international artists including Sammy Davis Jnr, Ray Charles and Natalie Cole and Australian artists Hugh Jackman, Tom Burlinson, Kate Ceberano and James Morrison and has played in theatrical productions such as Chicago, Matilda, Singin’ In The Rain, Dancin’ Man, Dirty Dancing, The Boy From Oz, Cats and Jesus Christ Superstar.
Paul now performs with his own jazz quartet PMQ, is Music Director for the 18 piece Straight Ahead Big Band (SABB) and is a freelance soloist and music arranger for local singers, bands and recordings.
James Flynn has had a versatile career that spans three decades and has taken him around the world performing as a professional a jazz vocalist, band leader, composer, actor, director & writer.
Originally from Scotland, Flynn moved to Western Australia in early 2000. He has written, produced and featured in, regional and national touring productions within Australia and consolidated a significant reputation internationally for his many performances overseas.
Sample career highlights include: Support artist for the late, great, Ray Charles - Support & touring artist with Demis Roussos- Featured soloist with The West Australian Symphony Orchestra- Jazz Festivals performances in Australia, Europe, UK & Asia - Opening act in the USA for ‘The Summer Horns’ Featuring: Gerald Albright, Mindi Abair, Dave Koz & Richard Elliot) - Emcee/performer,The Singapore International Jazz festival 2016/17/18 - Emcee/host Gregory Porter in Concert – Singapore 2018.Wrier & composer of the original jazz musical “Only you” 2019.
Adam Springhetti, born in Ferntree Gully, Melbourne Victoria, studied Jazz Double Bass at the Western Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Graduating with a Bachelor of Music in 2007, then went on to complete a Postgraduate Diploma Of Jazz Performance in 2008.
Adam has played with various ensembles such as the Simon Jeans trio, Tal Cohen Trio, Adam Hall and The Velvet Playboys, as well as being the house Bassist at CoolCats jazz club in Singapore. Playing with artists such as Eric Hargrove (James Brown), Robin Banerjee (Amy Winehouse), Mitch Frohman (Tito Puente) and supporting artists such as James Morrison, John Butler, Morgan Bain and many more. In 2009 Adam won the ArtsWa Young People category and an Arts Fellowship grant which enabled him to study with artists such as John Clayton (US bassist for Count Basie), Dina Krall, James Moody and Todd Coolman (US bassist for Stan Getz).
