Sunday Jazz at Piano Bar

The Gentlemen’s Swing Club

The original 2005 Gold Coast GSC line-up reunites for three special shows at Piano Bar.

Joe Delalande on drums, Robert Severini on bass, and Andy Pobjoy on piano. Three great friends back together again.

Arguably the classiest and most charismatic three piece outfit in Australia, The Gentlemen's Swing Club formed on the Gold Coast in 2005 and has performed extensively all over Australia since then. The GSC is a sophisticated outfit, presenting the most extensive repertoire around.

Piano Bar is proud to present its “Jazz on Sundays” programme for 2018.

Bringing you the best in local jazz talent, Piano Bar is a wonderful place to spend your Sunday afternoons listening to great music in a family-friendly environment. Best of all, our Sunday jazz events are free of charge. Our kitchen and bar are open from 1pm, and the music starts at 2pm.

Andy Pobjoy (sax, piano, flute, vocals)

Andy Pobjoy is like no other jazz performer you’ve ever seen. Smooth vocals coupled with his talents on several instruments including piano, sax and flute. Andy’s live solo show and performances with his quartet the Gentlemen’s Swing Club are energetic and spontaneous and have been wowing audiences across Australia for nearly a decade.
At 29 years of age, Andy is what you’d call an “old soul”. His love for jazz and swing started at the tender age of 10, and since then Andy has developed into an accomplished and well respected performing artist.

Roberto Severini (upright bass, vocals)

Rob commenced his musical career as a bassist singer, performing in Clubs around Melbourne. In 1973 Rob undertook the Arranging Course provided by the Berkeley Jazz University, Boston, USA. In 1982, the Victorian College of the Arts awarded him the first diploma in the State of Victoria for double bass (A.mus.A).
On both acoustic and electric bass, Rob Severini is perhaps best recognized for his driving bass playing and creativeness, which allows him to be comfortable in styles from blues to straight-ahead jazz, and be-bop. Throughout his career Rob Severini has strived to achieve a level of expression through improvisation that has led to collaborations with artists like Victor Lewis, Joe Chindamo, Andrew Gander, Virgil Donati, Peter Jones, Pierre Jaquinot. Today Rob Severini plays an important role in the Australian music industry, as a Performer, Arranger, Producer and Musical Director.

Joe Delalande (drums, vocals)

Joe has been in the Music industry all his life, a third generation musician. Joe, a drummer since childhood started his professional career in 1968, working on Great Keppel Island on weekends with several different piano players as a duo. Since then, he has worked with many different line ups.
A Drummer for all occasions he has supported and played with some world greats, from Jazz to Rock and Blues. Joe has toured and worked with some of the legends, Jazz greats such as Richie Cole, George Golla, Johnny Nicole, and Bob Bernard, as well Aussie Rock Icons Brian Cadd, Normie Rowe, Glen Shorock, and Venetta Fields; traveling through The Netherlands, New Zealand, USA and Australia. One of Joe's favorite memories was being in the support band in 1999, on George Benson's, Australian tour.
