A selection of local short films followed by the world premiere of Blue, plus the opportunity to attend a creative seminar!

About this event

Short Film Festival

The festival will include up to 40 minutes of short film programming from the local council area and surrounding regions. This will be followed by the world premiere Blue, made on location in the North Burnett. Whether you're a cinema lover or a local looking for a fun night out, this screening event is perfect for you!

Seminar + Workshop

This two hour seminar will include a show & tell from concept to finished product. You’ll get the opportunity to see how a film is made with a look behind the scenes. You’ll also learn how to make the first steps to being on screen, like securing a casting agent. We’ll have a very special guest speaker from Emerald, who’ll inspire you to follow your creative dreams, followed by an interactive event logistics workshop, and we’ll end with local networking. If you're an aspiring filmmaker, actor or event producer, this event is for you!

Organiser Grace Julia

Organiser of The North Burnett in Lights | Short Film Festival • Seminar + Workshop

Grace is an award-winning producer with a decade of experience in film production. After graduating with both a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Film and Screen Production, she pursued a career as production coordinator, including working full-time for Indigenous production company Carbon Creative on League Nation Live as well as their agency work. In 2017 a short film she produced, Adele, which won Best Live Action Short at Sydney Film Festival, amongst many other accolades. In 2020, Grace directed Brutal, a fashion film ward that received a Silver ACS award and is currently in the official selection at four film festivals. As a dual Hungarian-Australian citizen, Grace is an advocate for diverse on-screen representation, and was the director of Belong for two consecutive years, a film festival that celebrates Australia’s evolving identity. She is currently in development for a Screen Australia supported web series for IGTV, and has been awarded a RADF grant to present a workshop and screening event by the North Burnett Regional Council.
