The Next Generation of Viranganas

Bridging the Gap Between the Australian & Indian Women’s Start-up Communities

The 'Virangana' offers an alternative role model; the Warrior Woman who manifests ‘virya’ (heroism) and ‘shakti’ (courage).

The Virangana Project channels women’s drive and potential, by connecting them with the technology, commercial insight and financial resources to help them gain traction, visibility and independence. The project identifies, qualifies, exposes, funds, guides, perpetuates and rewards innovative business ideas with the potential to change lives.

Hear from a panel of modern day Viranganas from India and Australia as they compare the challenges and opportunities facing female entrepreneurs in each country, new alternative funding models for women around the world and the growing interest of VC firms in social impact startups.

Speakers Include:

  • Barbara Ward - President, Australia India Business Council NSW
  • Tony McAuslan – Head Corporate Communications, CEO Strategic
  • Julie Trell - Head of Telstra’s startup accelerator, muru-D, SheEO country lead, Australia
  • Jyothi Karandikar Iyer – Founder, Stademy
