Event description

Description

We know that children’s learning takes place in any environment, not just indoor classrooms, and that engagement with natural and challenging spaces can inspire independence skills and deeper play-based learning. This hands-on workshop will support educators and leaders to plan for and implement learning opportunities in any outdoor space.

This innovative event has two streams. You can book into just the workshop from 9.30PM-1.30PM, which will have many images and stories of practice; or you can book into the workshop and a 1-hour visit to Treehouse in the Park with facilitator Mary O'Neill to view a working outdoor learning space in action from 2.30PM - 3.30PM.

Mary O'Neill is an experienced Early Childhood Teacher, Centre Director and Operations Manager, including many years directing the Exceeding-rated Treehouse in the Park Early Learning Centre. As well as having a strong focus on quality relationships with children and families, Mary is an advocate for children's access to challenging and stimulating outdoor environments that promote learning and risk-taking.
