The Matthew Millhouse Salute, in its first official year, challenges participants to paddle, run or cycle from Blackmans Bay to Sandy Bay to raise awareness for depression, anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder, supporting and raising funds for the White Cloud Foundation! A social BBQ for participants and supporters will be held after the event at the finish line at Sandy Bay Long Beach.
This event was established in 2016 in honour of Trooper Matthew Millhouse, who passed away on 28 August 2015 from Young Onset Dementia, caused by a traumatic brain injury he received from a car bomb explosion during his Australian Army tour in Iraq in 2004. Matthew was 36 years old and is survived by his wife, Terese and their 6 year old daughter, Eleanor.
So how will you choose to join the Salute?
