The Maiden’s Circle

a sacred space for ‘Becoming’

Come and join us for an afternoon of connection,

exploration and creativity spent in circle with other

Maidens aged 11-14 years.

The Maiden’s circle aims to bring together similarly aged young women,

to create a space for safe connection during what can sometimes

be a challenging transitional time of our lives.

Navigating our “Becoming”...the journey from “maiden” towards “woman”

....can be a confusing yet exciting time in our lives....

The Maiden’s Circle aims to deepen and make sense of

“all that is” on this journey.

We will join together in sacred space whilst engaging in:

- an open sharing circle

-a drum journey to meet our inner Wise Woman

- sacred crafting of a Goddess Eye

- sharing of The Moon Goddess story

The facilitators,

Gypsy Artemis (Sacred Hunger & School of Shamanic Womancraft)

& Rebecca Hooper (Raven’s Wing)

are both trained in & passionate about women’s rites of passage,

particularly the importance of honouring ‘coming of age’.

Themselves mothers of girls, with training & combined experience spanning

decades, both create a strong yet flexible holding for the

safe unfolding of the young women they work with.

Both have Working With Children Checks.

Who should attend?

All maiden's aged 11-14 would benefit from attending this circle. It is a great opportunity to sit in sacred space with peers, whilst being held and guided by teachers aged 44 and 32 respectively.

Whilst we will not have a particularly strong "menstruation" focus, there will be a gentle undercurrent which feels into this important rite of passage known as "menarche"...with the opportunity to sit along side other girls who may or may not have navigated menarche already.

Sitting in circle also develops our listening, hearing, giving and receiving muscles...and provides us with a great opportunity to be in our authenticty as much as we can be in any moment.

Engaging in sacred crafting also allows us to "drop in" more easily as it puts our brain into a deeper state of being...

Similarly the drum journey, which is like "dreaming whilst we are awake", allows us to drop-in and access our own inner wisdom!

What if I have never done this sort of thing before?!

Even better! You get to try something totally new and learn how you 'flex' in a new, super-safe environment :) Many of the Maidens attending will not have participated in a circle of this kind before...so chances are you will all be in the same boat!!

Other things you should know..

When females...girls and women...get together, we make a chemical called OXYTOCIN...and oxytocin makes us feel GOOD!!! So let's "tend and befriend" and create a little oxytocin manufacturing plant for a few hours!!

It is our vision that we start providing regular opportunities for Maidens to gather in this way, which will allow us to dive deeper over time...it would be beauty-ful to have you along for our inaugral gathering!

(Gypsy has been running women's circles for some time now)

What is a drum journey?

During a drum journey, you lay down comfortably on the floor, and simply concentrate on the beat of the drum! It's a little like meditating, but instead of focussing on the breath, you focus on the drum beat. This aligns both hemispheres of our brain, and allows us to enter a meditative sort of space (it actually changes our brain waves!) and allows us to 'journey' to retrieve information, gain insight, or just to have an adventure in the non-physical realms!

Are the facilitators witches?!

No...but they wish they were sometimes 'cos casting spells would be fun!

Neither study wicca, and both are connected with the School of Shamanic Womancraft.

Gypsy is a Schoolof Shamanic Womancraft garduate and teacher who’s core work focusses on revisiting, honouring and/or reclaiming rites of passage, such as pregnancy, birth and menarche. Gypsy has delivered menarche healing & reclaiming workshops at various festivals in both NSW and Victoria. She feels this is the first step to truly healing & preparing for welcoming our Maidens to Womanhood.

Rebecca is a mother of two, a graduate of Journey of Young Women, and current student of the School of Shamanic Womancraft . Rebecca is passionate about connecting maidens to the power of their cycles and their inherent wisdom as women.
