The Liberating Feeling of Cutting Up Text
Wed. 22 March 2017, 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm AEDT
This workshop will enable you to create text using the Dada / William Burroughs / Gysin method (cutting text at random from sources such as newspapers and magazines), resulting in a small publication with words and (optional) pictures. By letting go of obvious structure and meaning, new narratives can emerge. Instead of relying on controlled elements you will allow surprise and interpretation into your work. Sometimes we overlook the fun and playful elements of design, the letting go, the process. The process is where you find the gold, where ideas can emerge. Have fun. Let go!
Please bring 2 x magazines/newspapers and a glue stick.
