TLF NSW is back.

On the 26th of October, The Legal Forecast and Gilbert + Tobin will be hosting a panel to discuss the current state of legal education in Australia. This panel continues a greater national conversation on the topic and seeks to challenge, and if possible, re-define who the real stakeholders are in legal education.

Our panelists are:

  • Lyria Bennett Moses is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Law at UNSW Australia. Lyria's research explores issues around the relationship between technology and law, including the types of legal issues that arise as technology changes, how these issues are addressed in Australia and other jurisdictions. Lyria is also Academic Co-Director of the Cyberspace Law and Policy Community and Chair of the Law, Technology and Innovation Research Network at UNSW Law.
  • Simon Rice is a professor of law, and director of professional and community engagement, at Sydney University Law School. Previous positions include the Director of the NSW Law and Justice Foundation, President of Australian Lawyers for Human Rights, Board member of the NSW Legal Aid Commission. He researches and writes in human rights law, anti-discrimination law, access to justice, law reform, and legal education.
  • John Flood is a legal sociologist, with his research focusing on globalization, the legal profession, law firms and lawyers. He is the inaugural director of the Legal Futures Centre at Griffith University and has been extensively involved with the growth of LawWithoutWalls.
  • Paulina Larocca is a leading creativity and innovation expert with over 15 years’ experience delivering innovation for multi-national corporations. She is the author of the book, Creativity+: Creative Catalyst soon to published in 2018. She has an MSc Creativity and Change Leadership and is a graduate of THNK Creative Leadership School in Amsterdam.
  • Joshua Krook is a researcher, writer and public speaker interested in the humanities, legal education and employment policies. His writing has been featured on ABC News (Opinion & Analysis), The Conversation and Business Insider. His latest book is Essays in AI: Automation, Technology and the Future of 9-5 Work.

Arrivals will begin at 5.30pm and drinks will be served. The panel will begin at 6.30pm sharp and conclude with time for audience questions. There will be an opportunity afterwards to meet and network with the speakers and other attendees.

The event is free and open to all to attend. However, attendance will be capped at 50 people so please RSVP as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
