Event Details

Lands of the Curry Leaf by Peter Kuruvita

Lands of the Curry Leaf: a vegetarian food journey from Sri Lanka to Nepal is the latest book from acclaimed chef, author and TV presenter Peter Kuruvita.

Lands of the Curry Leaf (there is one in every backyard on the sub-continent) is Peter's personal flavour-filled  journey of over 100 vegetarian and vegan recipes through the subcontinent and beyond - from Bhutan, Nepal and Afghanistan to India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka

All the dishes in this deeply personal collection, spiced with the flavours of Peter's life and travels, reflect the diversity of the lands of the curry leaf, their legendary hospitality, their energy and excitement, the extraordinary landscapes and their rich history.

There are recipes for street foods, pulses and legumes, salads, dairy-based dishes, curries, stir-fries and stews, rice, soups, chutneys, and sauces - all of which are supported by detailed glossaries of ingredients, pantry and spice advice, and advice on how to adapt traditional methods to a modern kitchen.

Peter is the author of several best selling books on Sri Lanka and the island cuisines of the Indian and Pacific Oceans.   In the past, we've had the privilege to host the launch of these books and on each occasion we've had a wonderful feast, not just of beautiful Sri Lankan food but also of Peter's view on life, death, cooking and the importance of food in our communities.

As vegetarian and vegan cuisines become mainstream, this will be a wonderful and important look at the origins of many of our vegetarian traditions have come from - the lands of the curry leaf.

Please join us for an intimate chat with Peter Kuruvita as we explore his latest book Lands of the Curry Leaf.  It is sure to be delicious in every sense of the word...

FAQs

Can I buy/pre-order signed copies of Lands of the Curry Leaf?

Yes - copies will be available for signing and purchase on the night - $49.95.  If you can't attend we can organise to post signed copies to you.  Postage (tracked & insured): Victoria $7.95; Australia wide $9.95; overseas we'll quote.

I've already purchased the book - can I bring it to be signed?

Well...to be honest...we'd rather you didn't...we do these events to sell books. The tastes we provide at the event are subsidised by the sale of books on the night and we would prefer not to have to increase our event fee. If you did want to bring a book along for signing, please consider buying a book instore on the night to support our events.

Are there ID requirements or an age limit to enter the event?

As alcohol may be served, attendees must be 18+ or accompanied by a parent/guardian

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event?

If you have been to one of our events before, please note we have moved to the northern side of the Queen Victoria Market.  Our new address is 115-121 Victoria Street (next to A Shed)

We recommend public transport.

The 19, 20, 57 (Elizabeth St)and 55 (William & Peel St) trams go past the Queen Victoria Market and run frequently.  We are in the Free Tram Zone and are a short 50m walk from the Elizabeth St Queen Victoria Market stop and the Peel St Queen Victoria Market stop.  Melbourne Central and Flagstaff railway stations are two blocks away.

If driving, there is plenty of metered parking on Queen St near the corner of Victoria St.  There is also limited parking on Victoria Street outside the store.

 Is my registration/ticket transferable?

Yes - to another person - just have them present your ticket on the evening.

What is the refund policy?

Tickets are not refundable but can be transferred if you can't attend.
