About this event

Ford will be joined by David Armitage (Harvard),Alison Bashford (UNSW) and the discussion will be moderated by Naomi Parkinson (UNSW). The discussion is hosted by History Books @ UNSW.

The King’s Peace tracks the changing parameters of colonial peacekeeping in the Age of Revolutions. It shows how local crises of the peace from Massachusetts to Jamaica precipitated a decisive shift towards autocratic governance – a shift that eroded fragile legal limits on tyranny in every corner of the empire and transformed every colonial subject’s relationship with the king.

History Books @ UNSW celebrates the latest research from historians at UNSW. Join us for lively conversations with UNSW academics and their international colleagues as they discuss forthcoming works on topics from gender history, Australian history, imperial history and much more.
