The Inside Dig, in partnership with Yates Garden Company is an innovative new workshop that aims to share expertise and insights on gardening in a relaxed and friendly setting – with a range of gardening experts discussing hands-on techniques over a complimentary glass of wine.
Participants will meet leading horticulturalists and receive an inside look at the workings of Australia’s oldest and much loved botanic garden.
The Inside Dig workshop series will be held monthly and each session will incorporate a different theme or gardening topic based on the season. The workshops will be conducted by Angie Thomas and feature experts from the Garden.
Angie Thomas is the horticultural communications manager for Yates and has a wealth of gardening knowledge, writing growing guides for the Yates the garden company, in addition to talking at garden shows and events and being a guest speaker at garden club meetings. Angie has been at Yates for 18 years, starting off in the research and development and regulatory affairs team before moving into the communications role. Angie lives on the south western outskirts of Sydney with her husband, two young boys and six chickens (!) and is passionate about all things gardening. She particularly loves tending her vegie patch and involving her kids in growing and harvesting their own food.
The first workshop will explore the topic of ‘Growing Happy Potted Plants’ with a focus on vegetables, herbs and flowers and discussion about soil types, planting techniques, timing and pot recommendations. It will include a rare ‘behind the scenes’ tour of the Garden’s nursery and lunch as well as a tailored Yates ‘starter pack’ to take home.
