Event description

Description

"It's actually our ability to embrace imperfection that will help us teach our children to have the courage to be authentic, the compassion to love themselves and others, and the sense of connection that gives true purpose and meaning to life" - Brené Brown

Parenting is the most challenging occupation we can have. It’s challenging for many reasons. One reason is that parenting is so personal and emotional that it ’s hard to always think clearly and act in a way that’s ultimately best for the child.

Making mistakes and feeling like we’re messing up is part of the practice of being a parent. We all know that perfect parenting does not exist, yet we still struggle with the social expectations that teach us that being imperfect is to be inadequate.

Is there a possibility to learn and grown from our mistakes and imperfections? Can the most challenging moments hold the biggest opportunities?

Yes, as long as we’re open, there is always an opportunity to learn, grown and reconnect.

This 2-week workshop is an invitation to transform our lives as parents and caregivers and to transform the lives of our children through the practices of looking deeply, deep listening, friendly speech, understanding, compassion, mindfulness, vulnerability, courage, connection, and worthiness.

We will meet two Saturdays from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm for two weeks (2 and 9 of June). Class materials, including exercises for home practice, will be provided.

This course draws upon four books:

The greatest gift we can give ourselves and our child is our nonjudgmental, conscious, fully-accepting presence.

In this workshop, we will explore evidence-based methods for cultivating presence, emotional resilience, worthiness, kindness, empathy, connection, and compassion towards yourself and your child.

You will be guided through exercises and practices, including personal exploration, poetry, and evidence-based meditative techniques in a safe, supportive, positive and wholesome environment.
