Event description

Description

Photography Studies College (Melbourne), proudly presents our lecturers, Sarina Lirosi and Anat Cossen in our September 2017 series.

TXT: From word, to image, to movement.
The nature of artistic collaboration

TXT is a collaborative project that commenced in January 2016. During one month, whilst on separate continents, Anat Cossen and Sarina Lirosi sent each other one text message a day. Each message was interpreted by the recipient and represented as a photographic image. In doing this, the artists aimed to challenge the way text messages are processed and interpreted. The resulting work was exhibited at Red Gallery Fitzroy in September 2016.

‘TXT-Study 1’ was a movement response performed in the gallery during the exhibition by contemporary dancers Tim Harvey and Jo White. The dancers extended the interpretation of the project to movement both as a choreographic score over time and as a response in real time to the themes, images and sound in the gallery.

In this Image-makers session, Anat Cossen, Sarina Lirosi and Jo White will be discussing this project in relation to their practice and personal experiences with the nature of collaboration.
