Event description

Description

Photography Studies College (Melbourne) is pleased to present the makers of the short film 'Hope City'.

‘Hope City’ filmed in Melbourne, had its World Premiere at Interfilm – 31st International Short Film Festival in Berlin, Germany. Since then, the film has been screened extensively in festivals around the world.

This project was an outreach project of sorts. Director Thomas Baricevic worked extensively with the Sudanese community and at the time JMC Melbourne campus had a range of Sudanese students studying in the FTV department. Thomas Baricevic approached Peter George to collaborate on this project and the story was developed. Thomas physically wrote the script. Peter then sought to engage various students in a host of Cast and Crew roles that connected working professionals with existing students on a professional short film production.

Majak, a teenage boy from South Sudan is haunted by his dark past and torn between his new life and a burning desire to return to home to find his mother

This 15 minute film will be screened, followed by a panel discussion with the Director, Cinematographer and writers.
