Description

Are you distressed by hearing voices or do you support someone who is?

The Hearing Voices Approach is the peer-led recovery model for people who hear voices, see and sense things around them that others do not. This training aims to provide tools to assist people to the alleviate distress associated with voices and other experiences and work towards a meaningful life.

Many people hear voices and find them helpful, sacred or just a normal part of life. Some people find voices confusing or frightening and seek help to cope. These people are commonly diagnosed with schizophrenia or another mental illness.

This training is for voice-hearers, supporters of voice-hearers and mental health professionals to facilitate and understand new ways of working with voices.


About the training

This course is the perfect starting place if you are new to the Hearing Voices Approach. By the end of the 2 days you will have a solid understanding of the Hearing Voices Approach and how to apply it in practical settings. These skills are transferrable either for yourself, in your work as a mental health professional or in your family/home environment.

This course is ideal if you:

- Want to better understand the experience of hearing voices & recovery
- Want to start a hearing voices group
- Are interested in a new approach to working with individuals on their voices
- Want to change your own relationship with voices
- Work with voice hearers in a clinical or community setting
- Are a friend or family member of a voice hearer

Training Endorsement

This training is endoresed by:
- the Australian Association of Social Worker for 14 hours of CPD
- the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses for 11 CPE points

- $450 Full Fee
- $315 Concession/Student Fee

Lunch

No lunch is provided for this training but there are kitchen facilities if you would like to bring your own. There are also a number of lunch options nearby the training location.
