Event description

Description

Grab a drink and settle in for a night of physics-themed entertainment for the sci-curious.

Cheer each 8-minute act as research scientists, comedians (or "comedians"), teachers, students and circus performers take to the stage armed with facts, jokes, songs, experiments, juggling balls ... or just their raw intellect and wit.

It's going to be an enlightening and entertaining evening, expertly woven together by your host, Dr Chris Stewart, antipodean, lapsed physicist and science-communicator-at-large.

The Final Line-Up:

  • "Astrology: Even The Stars Say It's Bollocks" — James Lees, Science Communicator and York Physics grad
  • "Juggling Assumptions with Invisible Gravity" — Circus Stu (a.k.a. Stuart Priest)
  • “Five Ways the Universe is trying to kill you" — Dr Emily Brunsden, astronomer at the University of York and Director of the Astrocampus
  • "A Wild Biologist Appears!" — Connor Cooper, York Biology PhD student
  • "Secret-teller: The Quantum Cryptography Song” — York maths PhD student Vilasini Venkatesh
  • “Millennial S**t Bags” — performer and science teacher Stevie Steven
  • as yet unnamed acts by York biology PhD student Rosie Leaman and chemistry student Adam Al-Janabi
  • and a warm welcome to Des McLernon, ring-in comedian (oh, and also Reader in Engineering at the University of Leeds)
