Event description

Description

We live in the most easily connected society in history, yet the feeling of loneliness is on the rise.

What if we could deepen our relationships with each other, build trust, learn to understand each other, and share our true selves, openly and authentically?

For a while now, I've dreamt of a social meeting place that exists solely to find, build, and nurture more meaningful relationships, without the need to get unconsciously drunk at a bar.

I've dreamt of a world where we each have a consistent and safe place to be our authentic selves, a place to feel welcome, loved and supported. A place to learn more about ourselves, grow together, and help support each other through this little thing we call life.

The Gathering is my answer to this dream; A Little More Connection in collaboration with The Indigo Project presents a monthly meeting place to make new friends, nurture the relationships you already have, and find out more about who you really are. Setting up in a cosy space, everyone brings some food to share and we engage in meaningful conversations, listening to each other's stories, learning more about ourselves, and deepening our sense of belonging and connection to those around us.

Don't worry if you're not good at this already, as you'll be given a ‘Conversation Menu’, which is designed to help guide your conversations away from the weather, and towards topics that help us to discover more about ourselves, and practice sharing openly with others.

If that all sounds a bit too scary, know that this is a safe space to explore and practice more authentic and vulnerable interactions with others. We're all here to find a deeper level of connection with others, but it takes practice. We first need to discover who we really are, accept ourselves, and gain confidence in sharing our authentic self with others.

This is a safe space to knock down the walls that normally create barriers between us, and discover how openness, vulnerability, and authenticity can create trust, and ultimately, an incredible connection between us as human beings. You'll have the opportunity to interact with others one-on-one, or in small groups, all while sharing delicious food in a cosy environment.

From what I've learnt about our need for belonging, we need a stable and consistent place where we feel safe, loved, and supported. Seeing as our society's current option is the local pub, having this space open at a regular and consistent time will hopefully provide that stability for those of us who are seeking more mindful and authentic interactions.

I can't do this without you, so I need your help.

I warmly invite you to come along and stay for as long or as little as you like.
----------

What to bring?

To make this happen, it's going to be a community effort.

Food:
Bring something you would love to share with others. Vegan options are preferred and always winners, as it means that most people will be able to eat it. We'll have labels for your food on the day.

Not great at cooking? No stress. Just stop by your favourite shop/cafe on the way and pick something up, or bring some fruit, nuts, dried snacks, or any other no-prep food.

Drinks:
Please note, this is an alcohol-free event. Bring some healthy juices, water, kombucha or anything else you like.
----------

Location:
We will be setting up in the incredibly cosy event space at The Indigo Project. Please arrive on time, as the entry door locks automatically and no one will be downstairs to open up once the event begins.

Public transport to Central Station is recommended, but you can also find parking in the surrounding neighbourhood streets, however, this will be paid and timed parking.
----------

Finally, please get in touch if you're interested in helping out with setup or anything else.

With love,

Dan.

----------
Ps. As you're most likely unsure of who I am, please feel welcome to 'stalk' me online before attending.
