Description

Join writers shortlisted for the 2019 Stella Prize and judge Louise Swinn in conversation with host Astrid Edwards as they discuss the books that made the 2019 Stella Prize shortlist, to be announced in early March.

About the Stella Prize

The Stella Prize is a major literary award celebrating Australian women's writing. The Stella Prize seeks to recognise and celebrate Australian women writers’ contribution to literature, bring more readers to books by women and thus increase their sales, equip young readers with the skills to question gender disparities and challenge stereotypes, and reward one writer with a $50,000 prize.

About Louise Swinn

Louise Swinn is a writer, editor, publisher and reviewer. Her work appears regularly in the Age, the Australian and the Sydney Morning Herald. She is one of the founders of Sleepers Publishing, the Small Press Network and the Stella Prize. Louise is Chair of Judges for the 2019 Stella Prize.

About Astrid Edwards

In addition to hosting The Garret, Astrid teaches writing at RMIT University. She has also judged the Aurealis Awards (Australia's premier speculative fiction awards) each year since 2016. You can read Astrid's book reviews in The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, Future Women and Australian Book Review. Astrid joined the Board of Melbourne Writers Festival in 2019.
