AIMS & OUTCOMES:
The FBC – Monash Business School Roundtable series seek to create and extend purposeful collaboration among business, industry, government and university stakeholders.
WE DO THIS BY:
- Establishing direct personal connections between leaders,
- Exploring mutual interests and opportunities for joint projects, and
- Spanning rigid sectoral barriers with emerging collaborative communities.
THEME:
In the context of a decarbonising global economy, climate change, shifting investment markets, changing community views, and rapid technological advances, what does the future of Australia's resources sector hold?
• How does the decarbonising economy reshape the Australian resources sector?
• How does the sector manage talent and social license in the context of stronger consumer and community views on sustainability, climate change, and corporate social responsibility?
• Can Australia become a renewable energy exporter? What are the opportunities and the hurdles?
• What opportunities are created from a dramatic fall in domestic energy costs for resource companies? Coupled with rapid increase in low cost automation, can Australia re-establish and grow it's energy-intense value-add industries? (as we're seeing with the Whylla Steelworks)
• Australia has significant natural resources for battery manufacture...what are the opportunities and barriers to leveraging the growth in giga-factories? (120-130 required globally by 2030... how many in Australia?)
