About this event
The Funding of Western Australian Homelessness Services 2022 report, commissioned by Shelter WA and undertaken by CSI UWA, provides comprehensive evidence of the funding of homelessness services in Western Australia.
The report presents:
- An overview of the state of homelessness and policy environment in Western Australia;
- Findings from a survey of 73 homelessness services operating across Western Australia and from focus groups comprising CEOs and service managers.
- Recommendations for the funding and commissioning of homelessness services in Western Australia
Please join Shelter WA CEO Michelle Mackenzie, Professor Paul Flatau and a panel of services providers to discuss the report and its findings.
- Professor Paul Flatau Director of the Centre for Social Impact UWA
Paul is a founding member of the Western Australian Alliance to End Homelessness. He has made significant contributions to homelessness research and policy in Australia covers topics such as intergenerational homelessness, homelessness and service integration, the costs of homelessness, youth homelessness, refugees and homelessness, and the funding of homelessness services.
Panelists joining us for the event include
- Andrew Hall | Perth Inner City Youth Services
Andrew has been involved in youth and homelessness services since 1985 when he commenced as a detached youth worker in the northern suburbs of Perth. He has worked in face to face service delivery, management and senior organisational leadership positions and is focused on seeing people achieve their best life and a society that provides real equal opportunities for every person.
- Sam Drury | St Barts
Sam is a qualified CPA and MBA professional with over twenty years’ experience leading teams through change and continuous improvement. Sam has worked in a number of industries, including the public sector, infrastructure, construction, transport, oil & gas, property, haulage and professional accounting practice. After working in the Aged Care industry for a few years, Sam now works at St Bart’s contributing to the journey of working towards a community where everyone has a safe and secure place to call home.
- Daniel Morrison | Wungening Aboriginal Corporation
Daniel Morrison is a Noongar/Yamitji man from Perth Western Australia. He’s a family man with a partner and two children. Daniel is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Wungening Aboriginal Corporation based in Perth.
- Daisy Ashworth | Australian Red Cross
Daisy a Passionate Community Programs Leader and Social Entrepreneur has just had her ten year anniversary with Australian Red Cross. Daisy is the founder of the social enterprise Mortgage Mates. She has been a Board Member for Perth Inner City Youth Service and until recently was the Chair of Joondalup and Wanneroo Ending Homelessness Group.
There will be an opportunity at the end of the session, for questions and answers with the panellists and Professor Paul Flatau.
