What do gender equitable cities, towns and public spaces look like? How do we get there? What learnings, questions and conundrums are emerging from enacting the Victorian Gender Equality Act (2020)? Intersectional Gender Equity in Practice will ask panellists to reflect on what is happening across public, private, academia and advocacy sectors to ingrain gender equity in the built environment.   S﻿peakers include:<ul><li>J﻿ocelyn Chiew - Director City Design, City of Melbourne (Chair) </li><li>Nikhila Madabhushi - Director / Architect NMA and Research Fellow, Fire to Flourish, Monash University</li><li>Dr Derlie Mateo-Babiano - Associate Professor in Urban Planning, University of Melbourne </li><li>Teneille Summers - Senior Social Policy Officer, Maribyrnong City Council</li><li>Ella Gauci-Seddon - Senior Landscape Architect, City of Melbourne </li></ul>Intersectional Gender Equity in Practice is a gathering of people with a drive to share, question, think deeply and shape public spaces that are gender equitable. It is an open invitation to all built environment professionals and interested community members to connect, reflect and hypothesise about how we can move faster toward a built environment ingrained with intersectional gender equity. We will discuss enablers to challenges, the need for intersectional approaches, and the value of networks.  We don’t have all ‘the answers’, but we’re working on it and hope that you will join us.The Excellent City Series was launched in 2021, by the City of Melbourne's City Design studio, to promote public awareness and debate on what constitutes design excellence for Melbourne.
