The Eid and Cultural Festival at Deakin University
4-6 pm Thursday 23 August 2012
Sports Hall, Level 2, Building HB
Deakin University Melbourne Burwood Campus.
The Eid Festival marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan. It is a joyous celebration for Muslims and an opportunity for the wider community to gain a greater understanding of Islam. It is an occasion to reflect on our rich cultural diversity and embrace the beauty of the many traditions and religions that make up our community.
Festival activities will include a variety of traditional and cultural performances from the Albanian, Bosnian, Indonesian and Turkish communities in Melbourne, art and food.
The Eid Festival is just one of many events celebrating our diversity. Deakin also fosters spiritual life on campus through its multi-faith spiritual centre which brings together students and staff from a range of religions and faiths.
