Event description

Description

This workshop will cover the techniques and tools professional mix engineers use to make their final mixes sound the way they do, and provide participants some insight into how they could improve their own work.

“One of the most common things I come across as mix engineer at The Base Recording Studios, are ‘finished’ mixes that lack clarity, any real dynamic lifts and falls, and generally feel flat, lifeless and uninteresting. The workshop ‘What makes a Great Mix?!’ is intended to walk participants through the mix of a recently released and successful song completed by myself here at The Base, and using this real world example demonstrate and discuss the tools, techniques and thinking behind the final result.

The discussion and demonstration will cover the use of hardware and software processors like eq’s, compressors and effects, the differences between, and pros and cons of, digital and analogue tools, as well as mixing techniques like panning, level balancing and automation.

The goal of the workshop is to provide participants with new or additional knowledge and skills they can implement with their own work, and help them achieve a higher quality result with their art.” Phil Threlfall, owner and mix engineer at The Base Recording Studios

Presented by Base Recording Studios
