The single biggest competitive advantage an organisation can develop is its culture. Not cashflow, not marketing, not products or services. It is the one thing that cannot be replicated by your competitors as it is uniquely developed through high performance habits for each company, their history and story.

 

A study by the University of New South Wales Australian School of Business, ‘Leadership, Culture and Management Practices of High Performing Workplaces in Australia: The High Performing Workplaces Index’, found that workplaces with high performance cultures had the following characteristics:

  • 12% higher total factor productivity than low-performing workplaces;
  • Higher levels of outputs from investments in services and products, operational access to produce goods and services, managerial structures and strategies, and marketing methods;
  • High performing workplaces are better than low performing workplaces at achieving their stated financial targets by 34%;
  • 23.3% lower employee turnover than low performing workplaces;
  • Spend more time managing their people than low performing workplaces; and
  • Spend more effort trying to understand customer needs than low performing workplaces.

Heath Colebatch is the General Manager for BRS and was one of our first employees playing a key role in building our culture.  Heath has extensive experience working both as a leader and as a leadership consultant in a career spanning over 15 years.  Heath brings a breadth of experience having been in senior roles in large multi-national organisations, being involved in the establishment of start-up businesses, being involved in business turn around’s and consulting for over 10 years both locally and nationally.  Heath has gained experience working nationally and internationally, was a soldier in the Australian Army for over 5 years and is currently the Leadership Coach for the West Adelaide Football Club.  Heath has a double degree in Commerce and Business (Honours), is a Certified Practicing Accountant, and has completed the Human Synergistics LSI Accreditation.
