The Craft of Journalism
Tue. 28 March 2017, 6:30 pm – 9:00 pm AEDT
Each year Women in Media Queensland aims to bring you a wide range of events providing a mix of information, education, career advancement, networking and sometimes, a little bit of fun. We’re kicking off this year's information and education series with what can only be described as a brilliant panel featuring three of the state’s best and brightest media talent.
Trent Dalton, Paula Doneman and Richard Fidler will be talking to us about the craft of journalism and storytelling – the importance of basic skills such as being a good listener, thoroughly researching your topics, earning the long-term trust of your contacts and the art of interviewing.
Feature writer Trent Dalton from The Weekend Australian Magazine will share with us how he crafts the brilliant long-form articles that have won him multiple Walkley awards and seen him named Queensland’s top journalist.
Walkley Award winning investigative journalist Paula Doneman will share her experiences covering and exposing major crime stories in Queensland for the past 25 years.
And Richard Fidler, presenter of Conversations with Richard Fidler, will speak about how he extracts the extraordinary life stories of his wide-ranging guests, making his podcast the most popular in the country.
As always, you are welcome to invite others to this event and men are always very welcome to attend.
A big thank you to our sponsors who make these events possible (and affordable).
We can’t wait to see you there,
Your Women In Media Queensland Committee
