Event description

Description

The COLLAB is a facilitated networking and collaborating event for sole-traders or very small business operators working in (or along-side) the mental health, disability or community service sectors.

These regular events are designed to introduce you to other like-minded, self-employed individuals - those who are passionate about supporting and improving service delivery, and those who are creating new innovative solutions across human services.

We know working solo (or in very small teams) can be difficult at times - staying motivated, keeping on top of new developments, and finding the right people who can complement your areas of expertise. By attending the COLLAB, you will have the opportunity to share your experiences, learn from others working within the sector, and to access the support you need.

Ultimately through these events we hope you will develop collaborations with others running small for-purpose businesses, that assist you to grow your business and increase your social impact, in ways you wouldn't be able to achieve alone.

Existing business and new venture owners are very welcome - whether you're just starting out, or you've been running for a decade (or more)! Whether you work as an allied health professional, consultant, trainer, researcher, run a small venture or service, or are setting up or establishing a small business to provide NDIS supports, we'd love for you to come along and explore the opportunities of collaborating with other self-employed people in the sector.

Here's what you can expect at our next COLLAB....

  • Informal networking opportunities throughout the afternoon & evening - meet some awesome people!

  • Relevant updates about what's happening across the sector, funding opportunities and new resources

  • Hear from others about their ventures, challenges and successes

  • Heaps of encouragement from others working (mostly) solo in the sector, who really understand the challenges

  • The opportunity to grab a bite to eat together from 6pm onwards

Here's what you need to know about tickets (and the cost)....

Attending the COLLAB is FREE (yay!).

We'll have a super light and healthy afternoon tea to keep you ticking over for the afternoon.

Around 5:30pm we will wrap up the facilitated part of the Collab, and head off-site for some informal networking and a bite to eat. You are welcome to join us whether you want to eat or not; and can make your own selection from the menu's available. It's a relaxed bistro environment at Kingpin (you can even get some bowling or lasertag in if you're keen!).

Got a busy schedule? If you can't make it for the whole event, feel free to join us from 3pm to 5:30pm to keep it within business hours; or to come after work for the evening networking session anytime from 5:00pm to 7:30pm.

Got any questions? Contact our Event Manager, Nat Ellis, at nat@vergecollaborative.org

Looking forward to seeing you there!

These events are being delivered with the support of a Sydney Motorway Corporation community grant.

FAQs

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Wotso Workspace and Kingpin are wheelchair accessible (elevator to all levels accessible from the Bakehouse Parking off George St). Parking is available in a number of local car parking stations - the one off Railway Lane is free for 3hrs. There is more parking available on the street (Railway Lane is a good place to start looking). The venue is a 7 minute walk (600m) from North Strathfield train station and Homebush train station (seriously! - exactly the same distance). Buses stop on Parramatta Rd and George St.

Finding Wotso can be a challenge!
Once on George Street, find Lane 4 and walk past Mannelli's IGA & Subway. Walk up the stairs toward Kingpin, take a sharp left, and find the glass sliding doors. Walk down the corridor and enter through the next set of sliding glass doors on the left. Walk straight ahead, turn left at the display of retro computer terminals, and arrive at another set of sliding glass doors. This is the entry - if we are not there to let you in then give Nat a call (0402 103 503).

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

No, you won't need to print out your ticket. We will have a registration list with us at the event.
