Addison Road Community Centre
The Addison Road Community Centre (or ‘ARC’) is Australia’s first, largest and longest running community centre. Since 1976, ARC has developed a level of economic sustainability sufficient to provide accessible and affordable spaces for community organisations, disadvantaged groups, local artists and cultural associations.
Today, the Centre has become a hub for culture, arts and the environment in the Sydney Inner West Area, with its 22 community organisations, art galleries, community theatres, radio station, park and organic gardens. Our members offer a diverse range of services that attract over 200,000 visitors per year and the Centre hosts many festivals such as the Marrickville Film Festival, NAIDOC week, multicultural celebrations and social awareness events.
The Addison Road Centre (ARC) is an independent organisation pursuing the goal of providing a site where organisations and individual practitioners in the arts, culture, community and the environment can work together in a community-owned asset. The ARC aims to be a showcase of how diversity of communities defined either by locality, ethnicity, sexuality, gender, age, ability or interest can operate together to achieve social and environmental outcomes in a context of economic self-sufficiency.
